Shahryar advises PCB to take ‘baby steps’ rather than inviting big guns to Pakistan

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) former chairman Shahryar Khan has said that the cricketing authorities should concentrate on inviting smaller cricket playing teams to Pakistan rather than big guns.

The former PCB chief stressing on the importance of the return of international cricket back to Pakistan, was of the view that it is not going to be an easy task. Despite significant developments in the form of Pakistan Super League (PSL) and visit from Zimbabwe and West Indies, PCB struggle to persuade top notch teams.

“I hear that the PCB are trying to convince Australia and South Africa to play some matches in Pakistan but what the PCB should look at is baby steps inviting smaller teams first, rather than trying to convince Cricket South Africa and Cricket Australia to send their teams to Pakistan,” said Shahryar, quoted Firstpost.

Recently, the PCB invited Cricket Australia to send its team to Karachi or Lahore for two one-day matches of its 5-matches series, which is scheduled in UAE in March next year.

There are indications that CA may accept the PCB’s request, and reports suggest that Cricket Australia is considering the request. Meanwhile, the PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani is reported to have left for South Africa on a mission to convince Cricket South Africa (CSA) to support the return of international cricket to Pakistan.
