ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which gave the country its Constitution, would also protect it considering it a sacred duty.
The Prime Minister stated this during a meeting with Minister for Defence Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar, at the Prime Minister House here.
They discussed overall political and security situation in the country.
The Minister for Defence apprised the Prime Minister about the delivery of F-16s, including 16 new and 14 upgraded ones, at the Shahbaz Airbase on Monday, which he said would considerably increase the defence capabilities of the Pakistan Air Force.
He commended Prime Minister Gilani for appearing in the Supreme Court yesterday which clearly manifested his commitment to the rule of law and upholding the constitution.
