The Karachi Port handled 217,005 tonnes of cargo comprising 203,710 tonnes of import cargo and 13,295 tonnes of export cargo including 5,609 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 203,710 tonnes comprised of 62,897 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,947 tonnes of general cargo; 76,638 tonnes of bulk cargo: 60,048 tonnes of coal; 12,113 tonnes of soyabean meal; 4,477 tonnes of steel scrap and 55,228 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 13,295 tonnes comprised of 12,895 tonnes of containerised cargo and 400 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 5,609 containers comprising of 1,751 containers import and 3,858 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The breakup of imported containers shows 389 of 20's and 673 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 08 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 122 of 20's and 139 of 40's loaded containers while 748 of 20's and 1,355 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eleven ships namely CMA CGM Verginia, Sima Giselle, MSC India, Sabya, CMA CGM Rossini, Bodo Schulte, High Fidelity, Anne, Glovis Solomon, Noble SW and U Noble carrying containers, oil tanker, coal, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. CMA CGM Verginia, ALS Apollo, Glovis Solomon, Noble SW, Han Ren and In Shimanami carrying containers, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were two ships namely OOCL Shanghai and Star Jiang carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Monday.
There were eight vessels viz. Hyundai Force, Al Rawdah, X-Press Kailash, Sima Genesis, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Karachi, Linus-P and Spring Oasis carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and DAP respectively due to arrive on Monday while eight vessels viz. MSC Lara, YM Keelung, Prosper, Bow Mekka, Red Azalea, Engiadina, SFL Hudson and Pacific Bright carrying containers, chemical and coal respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 143,825 tonnes comprising 117,453 tonnes of import cargo and 26,372 tonnes of export cargo including 3,172 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 117,453 tonnes includes 55,691 tonnes of furnace oil; 13,400 tonnes of palm oil; 2,119 tonnes of soyabean; 5,077 tonnes of coal; 1,030 tonnes of LPG; 5,772 tonnes of chemical; 468 tonnes of project cargo and 33,896 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 26,372 tonnes includes 26,372 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,172 containers comprising of 1,784 containers import and 1,388 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There were four ships namely CV CMA CGM Rossni, MV BBC Ursa, MV Sea Fortune and MT Shalamar carrying containers, general cargo, chemical and furnace oil respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely CV MSC Federica and MV Friendly Seas carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Rossni, CV MSC Federica, MV BBC Ursa, MV Friendly Seas, MV Sea Fortune, MT White Purl, MT Star Trader, MT Shalamar and MT Cypress Galaxy currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean seeds, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seventeen ships namely CV MSC Victoria, MV Da De, MV Leto, MV Stena Immortial, MV Yang Ze LO, MV Golden Catharine, MV Nautical Alice, MV Eternal Trump, MT Jag Lavanya, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Harmlon, MT Bahra, MT Scirocco, MT Grand Ace-12, MT Genuine Galaxy, MT Bunga Almanda and MT Chemstar Tiger carrying containers, general cargo, soyabean, canola seeds, coal, cement, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV MSC Victoria, CV Prosper and MT Grand Ace-12 carrying containers and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Monday. There were two ships namely CV Rio Charleston and CV Prosper carrying containers due to arrive on Monday. There are three ships namely CV X-Press Kailash, CV Northern Magnum and CV MSC Al-Ghero carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
