Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has challenged the directives of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding party's foreign funding case in the Islamabad High Court (IHC). The ECP had granted time to the party till May 13 to submit bank account details. But on Tuesday, PTI's counsel Saqlain Haider argued before the ECP bench that the PTI has challenged the ECP's directives in the IHC and pleaded to adjourn the hearing of the case till the IHC delivers verdict in the matter.
The ECP bench was headed by Chief Election Commissioner former Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza. The CEC inquired the defence lawyer if the party has taken a stay order on the case. Haider replied that the hearing of the case would be held in IHC on Wednesday (today). Therefore, bench granted time till Wednesday (today) with directives that the party will have to submit its details in the ECP and that the ECP hearing would not be delayed further unless the PTI takes a stay order from the IHC.
