The Karachi Port handled 241,189 tonnes of cargo comprising 185,287 tonnes of import cargo and 55,902 tonnes of export cargo including 8,954 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 185,287 tonnes comprised of 92,713 tonnes of containerised cargo; 19,363 tonnes of general cargo; 37,915 tonnes of bulk cargo: 21,442 tonnes of coal; 16,473 tonnes of fertilizer and 35,296 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 55,902 tonnes comprised of 35,898 tonnes of containerised cargo; 660 tonnes of general cargo; 7,300 tonnes of talcum powder and 12,044 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 8,954 containers comprising of 5,134 containers import and 3,820 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,494 of 20's and 1,712 of 40's loaded while 188 of 20's and 14 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 595 of 20's and 284 of 40's loaded containers while 793 of 20's and 932 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were nine ships namely Al Abdali, APL Japan, Mid Fortune, Union Fortune, Oriental Marguerite, Ocean Destiny, Mohar, CS Flourish and Beagle-II carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, cement and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. MSC Manya, Hyundai Splendor, Rio Cadiz, ALS Apollo, Union Fortune, MT Shalamar, Shunwa and Calix carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and soyabean meal respectively currently at the berths. There were five ships namely MSC Manya, Hyundai Splendor, UAFL Zanzibar, N Mars and Union Fortune carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while two ships namely ALS Apollo and Bao Resources carrying containers and DAP are expected to sail on Tuesday.
There were eight vessels viz. Cosco New York, NYK Furano, Akinada Bridge, Wawasan Sapphire, Intrepid Republic, Heilan Song, Atlantic Trade and Peridot carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and steel respectively due to arrive on Monday while four vessels viz. Josco Fuzhou, Johanna Oldendorff, Da Yu Xia and Yu Bright carrying coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 114,591 tonnes comprising 89,568 tonnes of import cargo and 25,023 tonnes of export cargo including 4,457 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 89,568 tonnes includes 16,803 tonnes of furnace oil; 4,064 tonnes of soyabean; 7,355 tonnes of chemical and 59,660 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,023 tonnes includes 25,023 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,457 containers comprising of 3,140 containers import and 1,317 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were five ships namely CV Akinda Bridge, CV Nicoline Maersk, MV Good Hope Max, MV Intrepid Republic and MV Ruyi-1 carrying containers, soyabean meal, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Akinda Bridge, CV Nicoline Maersk, MV Rui Ning-2, MV Ruyi-1, MV Good Hope Max, MV Intrepid Republic and MT Impros currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean, chemical and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eighteen ships namely CV Deira, CV MSC Asya, CV CMA CGM Tosca, MV Nord Destroy, MV Calipso, MV Frontier Leader, MV Anthemis, MV MTM Singapore, MV Celebration, MV Santa Virginia, MV Nord Leader, MV New Era, MT Epic Sardinia, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Spruce-2, MT BW Zamesi, MT Fortune Villa and MT Harminy-1 carrying containers, soyabean, canola seeds, chemical, general cargo, coal, LPG, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were seven vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Tosca, CV MSC Mykonos, CV MSC Asya, MV Celebration, MV Frontier Leader, MV MTM Singapore and MT Chemroad Saruna carrying containers, general cargo, chemical, canola seeds and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were eight ships namely CV NYK Furano, CV Mataquito, MV Eternal Triumph, MT Maria-III, MT Tiamat Gas, MT Brizo, MT New naxos and MT Chemroad Sakura carrying containers, coal, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Monday, while two ships namely CV Maersk Kingston and CV UASC Al-Khor carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday. There are two ships namely CV Deira and MV Lian Hua Song carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
