China’s Hisense to begin assembling smartphones in Pakistan by 2019

Chinese electronics manufacturer Hisense will start assembling smartphones in Pakistan by the beginning of 2019.

“The process of installing a modern assembly line for the smartphones will be completed by the end of December this year at an estimated cost of approximately $3 to $4 million,” said M. Tariq Zubairi, CFO of Tri-Angels Electronic, the manufacturer and distributors of Hisense in Pakistan, quoted Arab News.

The completion of assembly line will make Tri-Angels Electronics the first company to locally assemble smartphones in Pakistan. “The locally-assembled smartphones will be available in markets across Pakistan from March 2019,” said Zubairi.

Meanwhile, local smartphone dealers were of the view that the locally-assembled smartphones will prove beneficial for Pakistan, as it will provide employment opportunities to the public, alongside consumers can get smartphones at a cheaper price tag.

Last month, the Chinese firm officially entered Pakistan as it planned to introduce Hisense TV with an investment of $2.3 million and the objective to capture major chunk of market. Hisense Co is a Chinese state-owned multinational major appliance and electronics manufacturer headquartered in Qingdao, Shandong province, China.
