Federal Minister for Finance, Revenues and Statistics, Senator Ishaq Dar chaired the sixth meeting of the Steering Committee on Integrated Transit Trade Management System (ITTMS) held Monday. Chairman, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) informed the committee about progress made vis-à-vis the decisions taken during previous meetings. He stated that the project was on track and most of the milestones had been achieved as per the timelines.
The FBR and the ADB had agreed on the detailed modalities of the project and loan negotiations had been concluded with the bank. The Board of Directors of the bank will consider the project within a week. The meeting was informed of the progress of land acquisition at Torkham, Chaman and Wahga for construction of border trade complexes. The steering committee desired to fast track the process of land acquisition, through consultation with all stakeholders, in a transparent manner. The steering committee also endorsed the selection of Dr Muhammad Zubair, a BS-20 officer of Pakistan Customs Service as Project Director for ITTMS project, through competitive process, by a four-member committee.
