Pakistan Railways has decided to reduce fares of 12 different trains for one month besides 25 percent reduction on subsidy being given on fares of rail cars being run between Lahore and Rawalpindi. This was decided at a high-level meeting of Pakistan Railways held here on Saturday with the Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique in the chair. The meeting also decided that five percent surcharge would be levied on booking to be done on any train 48 hours prior to its depart. These decisions will come in to force from November 15, PR spokesman said.
Trains, fares of which have been reduced include Badar Express (Lahore-Faisalabad), Ghauri Express (Lahore-Faisalabad), Ravi Express (Lahore-Shorekot), Sargodha Express (Lahore-Sargodha), Lasani Express (Lahore-Sialkot), Mehar Express (Rawalpindi-Multan), Chenab Express (Sargodha-Lala Musa), Lala Musa Express (Sargodha-Lala Musa), Sandal Express (Multan-Sargodha), Sukkur Express (Karachi-Jacobabad), Saman Sarkar Express (Hyderabad-Mirpur Khas) and Badin Express (Hyderabad-Badin). Those who attended the meeting included Chief Executive Officer Pakistan Railways Javed Anwer, Additional General Manager Traffic Maqsood ul Nabi, Chief Operating Superintendent Mahmood Hassan, Chief Commercial Manager Khalid Khurshid Kunwar and Chief Marketing Manager Abdul Hameed Razi.
