The Provincial Health Minister, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has directed the heads of government hospitals not to take fee from poor patients and their fee may be deposited from Patients Welfare Funds. This said during his surprise visit to Civil Hospital Hyderabad. He was annoyed to see that more money was being charged for X-rays than Rs 50/- prescribed by the government.
He directed the MS Civil Hospital Hyderabad to take action against those who were charging extra money. On the intervention of Provincial Health Minister, the extra fee taken by the Civil Hospital management was returned to the patients. He requested the people to contact at his office Nos.021-99217347 and 021-99217346 in case of any complaint against any government hospital from 09 AM to 09 PM and complaints would be addressed.
He assured the people that government was spending billions of rupees in health sector, and the people should get benefit of it and he would not tolerate any negligence in this regard, he added. He said that he would pay surprise visits to all government hospitals to inspect himself that what was going on over there. He also asked all Medical Superintendents of government hospitals to make patient-friendly environment in hospitals to facilitate them.
