The Pakistan Flour Mills Association has demanded of the government to extend the period of special rebate package for the export of flour instead of surplus wheat that expired on 30th September 2015. The central committee chairman of the PFMA Muhammad Naeem Butt and Chairman Punjab Branch Chaudhry Iftikhar Ahmad Mutto said on Wednesday that the Pakistan government had announced to give wheat in aid to Afghanistan. They said that Afghanistan had been a traditional market of Pakistan's wheat products.
In view of the low prices of wheat in the international market, the Pakistan government had announced a rebate package in January this year for export of flour to Afghanistan. The flour millers availed of the concession given the package and earned precious foreign exchange for the country, However they said that owing to expiry of rebate package period and tedious export procedures Pakistan's, export of flour to Afghanistan had been interrupted for past three months.
