Additional Inspector General of Police, Mushtaq Ahmed Maher, has said that the ongoing Karachi operation will continue till its logical conclusion. During an interactive meeting with the members of Site Association of Industry (SAI) and later talking to newsmen on Wednesday, he said that the operation, despite acute shortage of manpower and resources, was going on very successfully.
Maher said that a process had been initiated to withdraw police guards on VIP duties to overcome the shortage of personnel. He said that the department was utilising full recourse and had provided the required equipment and vehicles to police stations to improve law and order situation. "Our intention is clear and we want to provide better working environment to the inhabitants of the city," he added.
He admitted that high incidents of snatching were being reported during tariff jams and necessary instructions had been issued to police to take special measures to contain such crimes. Replying to a question, he said that SITE Crime Monitor Cell would be linked with Civic Centre to provide police an access to footages of CCTV cameras. Speaking on the occasion, SAI President Jawed Bilwani appreciated police for successful operation against criminals. The site industrial area police station was facing acute shortage of manpower, he said and urged the AIG to increase the strength of policemen.
