Shares on Lahore Stock Exchange swung to and fro and finally ended in green zone amid ascending transaction volume. LSE-25 index declined by 20.17 points to 6279.29 against 6299.46 of Monday while trading turnover increased to 2.579 million shares compared with the day earlier volume of 1.894 million shares.
The market opened on a mixed note and witnessed up and downward moves till close of trading. Because of the buyers' interest, oil sector companies and blue chips like Hascol Petroleum, Pakistan Oil Fields, PPL and Pakistan Refinery, Akzo Nobel Pakistan, Adamjee Insurance, Sui Northern and Arif Habib Corporation registered handsome gains. Attock Refinery, Engro Corporation, Engro Fertiliser, Fauji Fertiliser Bin Qasim, MCB Bank, Engro Polymer and Chemicals, Haseeb Waqas Sugar Mills, PIA, Dewan Salman Fibre and Lafarge Pakistan Cement were succumbed of profit-taking.
The advancing stocks were ahead of the declining ones, as out of a total of 98 active issues, 27 companies posted gains, 17 went down while 54 companies stayed glued to their previous closing. The Murree Brewery Company gained Rs 35, Akzo Nobel Pakistan improved by Rs 11.43, Hascol Petroleum appreciated Rs 6.51 while Pakistan Oil Fields, PPL, Adamjee Insurance, and Pakistan Refinery were up Rs 4, Rs 2.95, Rs 2.91 and Rs 2.73, respectively. The Attock Refinery lost Rs 3.51, the Engro Corporation shed Rs 3 while Engro Corporation and Engro Fertiliser were down by Rs 1.85 and Rs 1.83, respectively. The Silk Bank was the market leader whose 1.038 million shares changed hands followed by the Bank of Punjab with 430,500 shares.
