A meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak on Monday approved construction project of Nowshera Medical College which would be completed in two phases at an estimated cost of 1914 million rupees.
The Chief Minister also directed for early completion of the District Headquarters Hospital, Nowshera by providing it the basic amenities of electricity, water and gas within ten days. The meeting was also attended by MPA Muhammad Idress, Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan, Health and C&W Secretaries and other related officials.
Considering PC-I of Nowshera Medical College, the meeting decided to complete the project in two phases in a bid to complete the main building in a lesser period while construction of hostels for the college would be initiated in the second phases.
The meeting also reviewed the pace of work on the DHQ hospital, Nowshera and expressing concern over delay in completion of the scheme, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak directed the concerned authorities to ensure completion of the construction work as well as provision of the facilities at the earliest.
Pervez Khattak warned that he would soon pay a visit to the project site to view the factual position of the project execution adding that no excuse would be accepted after expiry of the deadline given for providing basic amenities to the hospital.
Meanwhile, presiding over a meeting regarding affairs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Workers Welfare Board (WWB), Chief Minister Pervez Khattak directed the labour department to retain those 600 teachers of WWB's schools who were appointed following the prescribed procedure. He said that all new appointments in the board are made purely on merit basis and NTS test must be pursued as essential condition for such recruitment.
The provincial Minister for Labour and Public Health Engineering, Shah Farman, MPA Muhammad Idrees, Secretary Labour department and officials of WWB attended the meeting. The participants discussed in detail the affairs of WWB's employees and took various decisions for resolving the issues being faced by WWB schools. The Chief Minister was apprised of irregular hiring of over 2100 teachers and other staff members as well as other affairs of WWB.
The Chief Minister directed the labour department to suggest measures for the future of those subject specialists and other employees who were employed unnecessarily and without availability of their subjects in certain schools. He ordered to prefer the children of the workers only for admission in the WWB schools and urged the need for regular and effective monitoring of the schools to ascertain their performance. Directing the authorities concerned to link WWB schools with the latest monitoring system of the provincial education department and said that strict measures be taken to ensure attendance of teachers and students in the schools.
