Commissioner and Administrator Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said due to situation all municipal organisations will perform cleaning of storm water drains in the night hours also and their concerned offices will also work round the clock. He was speaking at a joint meeting of officers from KMC, DMCs, KW&SB and District Council in the Civic Centre on Wednesday, said a statement.
The Commissioner and Administrator Karachi during the meeting directed to remove the hoardings installed on the pavements. He said the chief engineer of KMC should work as focal person with the district administrator in each district. Shoaib Siddiqui said the cleaning of drains was a test for all municipal bodies including KMC therefore they must incorporate all the available machinery and manpower in this work and especially the DMCs should ensure cleanliness in their jurisdiction. He said all civic organisations were working for the same aim that is to serve the citizens. He also directed to make preparations for the cleaning and fumigation works after the rains. The Commissioner Karachi said action should be taken against the chief sanitary inspector in case the sanitary condition was found to be unsatisfactory. The district administrators apprised him about the development works being carried out in their respective district. Among other notables Metropolitan Commissioner Samiuddin Siddiqui were also present.
