A single bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) comprising Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui has asked Advocate General, Sindh to launch an inquiry over derogatory remarks against court and file a report within three days. The orders were passed by the court Wednesday consequent to an affidavit submitted with objectionable remarks by Manager of the Hepatitis Control Program, Abdul Khalique, in a case filed by a local pharmaceutical company against Government of Sindh and two multinational companies.
Authorities were alleged to be engaged in massive irregularities in purchase of Hepatitis medicine for poor patients. The language of affidavit passed derogatory remarks against the interim order of the court restraining provincial health authorities from purchase of medicine at inflated rates. It said that the court has put the life of hepatitis patients in danger, however, later the programme manager did not own the affidavit in the court.
The court observed that the affidavit attempted to ridicule court orders by alleging that court's interim order has put the life of patients in danger. During the hearing Assistant Advocate General Mukesh Kumar tendered an apology before the court that was made part of the court record. The written court order says unconditional apology of Mukesh Kumar was accepted subject to the report to be filed within three days in the court by the AG. The defendants were asked to present the writer of the draft in the court and observed that a lawyer cannot write such remarks against the court.
