The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nasir Khan Durrani awarded D.I.Khan police on extra-ordinary performance of bravery shown against dreaded terrorists in a ceremony held at CPO Peshawar Monday. According to details the other day a police mobile of police station Daraban was on routine mobile patrolling. At mid night at 12:00 when they reached near Lorha Bridge situated at D.I.Khan Daraban road, some unknown terrorists opened indiscriminate firing upon them.
The terrorists used hand grenades and rocket launcher in the attack. As a result Constable Munir Ahmad and driver constable Muhammad Azam were hit and succumbed to injuries on the spot. ASI and one constable retaliated in self defence. After 30 minutes exchange of firing the terrorists fled away from the spot by getting benefit of darkness. During spot inspection, a dead body of unknown person was also recovered who was later on identified as Abdur Rehman s/o Muhammad Abbas r/o Moh Jafarzai Kulachi a well known terrorist wanted to D.I.Khan police in several cases.
One Kalashnikov loaded magazine, 6 magazines out of which 3 containing 25/25 rounds of 7.62 bore and 03 empty, 2 hand grenades and a purse taken into possession. After 5 days of the incident a call was intercepted which revealed that another militant Anwar Alias Anwari s/o Ghulam Haider r/o Looni wanted to Kulachi police in several terrorist case has also been succumbed to injuries that he had suffered during the above mentioned encounter. It has also been transpired that the terrorists had succeeded in taking one of its colleague namely "Qari" in injured condition to Wana Waziristan.
Addressing on the occasion the IGP Nasir Khan Durrani commended the extra-ordinary bravery shown by the police against the terrorists and termed them as role model for the rest of the force. The IGP hugged both the ASI and injured constable and appreciated their gallantry acts against the terrorists. The IGP also announced on the occasion to send their names to the govt for Quaid Azam Police Medals.
