Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday claimed that his party had submitted all relevant evidence to the Judicial Commission which would finally proceed with the gigantic task of investigating the involvement of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in alleged rigging of 2013 general elections.
Refuting the government's claim that the PTI failed to submit any evidence to prove the rigging, Khan told reporters outside Supreme Court that enough evidence have been submitted and from today onwards the commission will gear up the probe in light of the evidence. "We've given whatever the evidence we can...we've also submitted evidence that about 10 million extra ballot papers were printed. We have also identified how many ballot papers were distributed...in some constituencies it was huge while in others they [PML-N] sent less extra ballots," he added.
Imran said that there is no Form 15 in more than 50 percent constituencies which indicates how transparent elections were conducted, adding the commission will ascertain how many extra ballot papers were utilised and how many were returned. Khan also blasted the incumbent chairman National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) Usman Mubeen, saying there was a clear contradiction in the statement of interior minister, former and the incumbent chairmen of the authority.
"Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar's statement on the floor of National Assembly is on record in which he said about 70,000 votes cannot be verified in each constituency for magnetic ink was not used. The same was also stated by Tariq Malik (former chairman Nadra) but this gentleman says something else," he added. He said that the incumbent chairman Nadra told the judicial commission that his organisation lacks proper tools to read the magnetic ink as it uses only optical imaging for the ballots verification.
The commission had already directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to provide all the Form 15 of all the constituencies, he said, adding things will be crystal how they submit the Form 15 as 50 percent of the forms are missing. The Form-15 is a public document but it is not being given to anyone, he said, adding that Fair and Free Election Network, an NGO, has written to ombudsman to get form-15 but it is not provided yet.
To a question about Indian Prime Minster Narindra Modi's controversial statement, he said from his belligerent and provocative statements it appears that Modi has risen to the level of his incompetence. "Any statesman in his shoes would have focused on how to fight poverty in the subcontinent by resolving issues and creating peace. Yet by playing to his right wing gallery of fanatics, Modi is ensuring that money gets diverted towards an arms race in the region," he maintained.
He said that Modi and his government has failed to do take any measure to eliminate poverty from the region and resolving the lingering issue of Kashmir dispute, adding he (Modi) is the wrong track, which is quite unfortunate for those who voted him power. He said that issuing such statement and putting claims on baseless things showed that how desperate Indians are about the ongoing Pakistan ties with China. He further said that Modi government has tried its every bit to influence and to put pressure on Pakistan to limit the agreements signed with China.
