Two reputed institutions of international ranking in higher education of Philippine join hand with Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) to develop academic co-operation and promote mutual understanding in the field of City & Regional Planning (CRP).
The core areas of collaboration includes Urban and Regional Planning; Risk Sensitive Planning & Management and Administrative Sciences to strengthen the profession of City and Regional Planning in Pakistan. Exchange of faculty, researchers and students; collaborative research projects; lectures and symposia; exchange of academic information and materials and other forms of academic co-operation in the field of CRP are key focus areas of these agreements.
A memorandum of understanding, in this regard, was signed here at LCWU. Vice Chancellor Dr Sabiha Mansoor chaired the ceremony in Syndicate Hall. LCWU Management signed these agreements with Professor Dr Tabassam Raza, Associate Dean and Director of R&E, Planning and International Linkages (PIL), Graduate School of Business, Philippine School of Business Administration; and Professor Carnelita Rosario Eva U Liwag from University of the Philippines on behalf of Dr Mario R Delos Reyes Dean, School of Urban and Regional Planning and Dr Caesar A Saloma, the Chancellor of the University of The Philippines. The Philippine School of Business Administration was represented by its President, Jose F Peralta.
Dr M Atiq ur Rehman Head of CRP Department LCWU said the University of Philippines (UP Manila) was a National University whereas Philippines School of Business Administration (PSBA) is premier private institution of higher education. PSBA is duly recognised by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and includes in World Higher Education Database (WHED). It is also a part of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation's (Unesco) and the International Association of Universities (IAU) otherwise known as IAU/Unesco List.
Vice Chancellor Dr Sabiha Mansoor, in her address, said that LCWU was the largest and most prestigious public sector women university in Pakistan and mutual co-operation between those institutions would open new doors of research and innovations for students of both sides.
