The Supreme Court (SC) ordered on Monday the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to unblock former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf's national identity card (NIC) and passport.

As the treason case against Musharraf was resumed, the SC was informed by NADRA's Chairman Usman Mobin that since Musharraf's NIC and passport were blocked, the retired general could not come to Pakistan, local media reported.

The SC further ordered the formation of a tribunal within two days for Musharraf’s trial. Musharraf has been summoned to appear before the court regarding the petition against his lifetime disqualification on June 13 (Wednesday). The SC has summoned Musharraf to court and assured him security and that he will not be arrested.

Earlier, the apex court allowed Musharraf to file nomination papers to contest in the coming general elections on the condition that Musharraf would come to Pakistan to attend court hearing.

Court proceedings are in process regarding the case of imposition of extra-constitutional emergency by Musharraf in 2007, while Peshawar High Court has disqualified him for life. Musharraf, who is currently living abroad, has been summoned a couple of times to appear before the court.
