Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated on Tuesday in the country including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan with great religious fervour and festivity. Eid congregations were held at open places, mosques and Eidgahs in all major cities and towns.
Ulema in their sermons highlighted significance and philosophy of Eid-ul-Fitr. Special prayers were offered for well-being of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), early liberation of Kashmir, Palestine and especially for the security, progress and prosperity of the country.
Elaborate arrangements were made for the security of mosques and imambargah, keeping in view prevailing situation in the country. In the Federal Capital, the main Eid congregation was held at the Faisal Mosque where a large number of people including parliamentarians, envoys of Muslim countries and high officials offered Eid prayers.
President Mamnoon Hussain offered Eid prayer at Aiwan-e-Sadr along with Chairman Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bukhari and Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch. Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif offered Eid prayers at Masjid-e-Nabvi. Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk offered Eid prayers at his native village Gul Kada village in Mingora Swat.
Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Raheel Sharif celebrated Eid with troops on the front lines, busy in operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan Agency. AJK President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan offered Eid prayers at his native village Ali Sojal in Rawalakot. AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed offered Eid prayers at his native town Chakswari in Mirpur district.
Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah celebrated Eid in Sukkur. In Rawalpindi, religious congregations were held at over 1000 mosques, eidgahs and open places. The biggest Eid congregation was held at Liaqat Bagh, where hundreds of people offered Eid prayers.
The Eid congregations were held at Eidgah, Municipal Stadium, Sadiqabad, Madni Masjid, Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Railway Ground, Dhoke Hassu, Jamia Islamia Saddar, Government Post Graduate College Ashgar Mall and Ali Masjid Satellite Town where thousands of faithful gathered and sought forgiveness from Allah Almighty for their sins. In Lahore, main congregation was held at Badshahi Mosque where Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar offered Eid prayers, while Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif offered Eid prayers at Model Town in Lahore.
Likewise, in Karachi Eid prayers were held at more than 500 places. The main Eid congregation was held at Gulshan-e-Jinnah (old Polo Ground), Nishtar Park,T-Ground, Federal-'B' Area and Eidgah Nazimabad. Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan offered Namaz-e-Eid at Governor House. In Quetta, Eid congregation was held on Toghi Road, where former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry also offered prayer. In Peshawar, Eid congregations were held at more than 100 places. The biggest Eid congregation was held at Eidgah Charsadda Road. The Chief Minister Prvaiz Khattak celebrated Eid at his constituency Manki Sharif. Governor offered Eid prayers at Governor House.
Eid congregations were also held at more than 500 places in Multan and D G Khan Divisions. Main Eid congregations were held in Markazi Eidgah, Musa Pak Shaheed Mausoleum, Hazrat Shah Rukn-e-Alam Shrine, Shahi Mosque Totlan Wali, Jamia Qasimul Aaloom, Imam Bargah Shah Gardez, Imam Bargah Zenbia and other places. The biggest Eid congregation was held at Central Shahi Eidgah Khanewal road. In Faisalabad more than 1,001 congregations were held in the city where hundreds of thousands of people offered Eid prayers. Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in Sukkur, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Ghotki and Noshehroferoze districts.
In Sukkur, the Eid congregations were held at more than 200 places. The largest congregation was held at the Municipal Stadium, where the high-ups of the government also offered Eid prayers. In Muzaffarabad, Eid congregation was held at about two dozen places. The main congregation was held at Central Eidgah where thousands of faithful offered Eid prayers.
