Pakistan rejects India minister’s allegations, accuses New Delhi of state-sponsored terrorism

  • FO says Indian allegations could not divert global attention from its subversive activities in foreign territories
Published Updated

Pakistan on Monday strongly rejected allegations by India’s Home Minister seeking to link Islamabad with certain arrests in India, describing the claims as baseless propaganda aimed at diverting attention from New Delhi’s domestic security challenges.

In a statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the allegations were part of what he described as India’s “malicious campaign” against Pakistan for narrow domestic political gains.

He said India was “a repressive state” domestically that was oppressing minorities and silencing dissent, while externally, it was exporting terrorism and abetting terrorists.

The spokesperson said unfounded Indian allegations could not divert international attention from what Pakistan described as India’s state-sponsored terrorism, targeted assassinations and subversive activities in foreign territories.

“Pakistan has repeatedly shared evidence of India’s involvement in terrorism and destabilising activities in Pakistan,” Andrabi said.

He cited convicted and serving former Indian naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav as evidence of what Pakistan describes as India’s involvement in subversion and terrorism in the country.

Pakistan urged the international community to reject what it called baseless Indian allegations and hold India accountable for its alleged state-sponsored terrorism in the region.
