Five militants killed: Terrorist attack on Rangers’ facility in Karachi repulsed
KARACHI: A terrorist attack on a law enforcement installation near Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 6 was foiled on Saturday night after security personnel responded swiftly, killing five militants, according to security sources.
The attack reportedly occurred at around 8:10pm, when the assailants first detonated an explosive device before attempting to storm a Rangers transport facility that falls under the jurisdiction of the Bhittai Rangers Sector Headquarters.
Sources said that alert security personnel deployed at the main gate mounted an immediate and effective response, preventing the attackers from advancing further into the premises.

Initial reports indicate that five terrorists were killed during the ensuing gun battle, while a clearance operation remained underway in and around the compound.
The exchange of fire claimed the lives of two Rangers personnel, who embraced martyrdom, while three others sustained injuries, according to sources.
Security officials said that more than six militants entered the compound following the initial explosion before being engaged by security forces.
The Sindh Police’s Special Security Unit (SSU) SWAT Team was dispatched to the scene. SSU Commandant Amir Khan Niazi was also present, overseeing the operation alongside senior police officials, including the DIG East and SP East.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Interior Minister sought a detailed report on the incident from the Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi.
The Inspector General of Sindh Police directed law enforcement agencies to further strengthen security at all sensitive installations across the province in the wake of the attack.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the assault, and authorities said investigations are underway.
