PESHAWAR: KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has written a letter to the Chief Justice of the Gilgit-Baltistan Supreme Appellate Court, requesting immediate judicial intervention to ensure transparency in the upcoming elections.
According to sources, the letter urges the Chief Justice to take notice of what it describes as a deeply concerning electoral environment in Gilgit-Baltistan. It alleges that a political party is facing obstacles in conducting political activities, holding public gatherings, running its election campaign, and moving its leadership freely.
The letter further claims that reports of political workers being harassed and subjected to unlawful arrests have emerged. It warns that if such actions are not stopped, the credibility and transparency of the electoral process could be seriously undermined.
