LAHORE: Punjab Secretary Energy Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti on Wednesday held meeting with a high-level delegation from the World Bank to discuss potential collaboration on energy efficiency and energy conservation projects in the province. The World Bank delegation was led by Lead Energy Specialist Jas Singh.
During the meeting, both sides held detailed discussions on prospective initiatives aimed at promoting efficient energy use and reducing energy wastage across Punjab. The participants emphasized the growing importance of energy efficiency as a means to cut operational costs, improve resource management, and achieve environmental sustainability goals.
According to provincial energy department officials, the meeting also focused on identifying priority areas for future interventions in the industrial, residential, commercial, and public sectors, with particular attention to modern energy-saving technologies and sustainable development practices.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Energy Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti said that the Government of Punjab remains committed to promoting energy conservation and the adoption of advanced energy-efficient technologies to help achieve sustainable development targets at both provincial and national levels.
The World Bank mission expressed its willingness to support initiatives aimed at improving energy efficiency, strengthening institutional capacity, and raising public awareness regarding responsible energy consumption.
Both sides agreed to enhance mutual coordination and cooperation for the identification and development of practical projects that would contribute to energy conservation, economic growth, and environmental improvement in Punjab.
