ISLAMABAD: A leading Chinese technology company, IBI Beijing United Technology, is set to establish its Digital Economy headquarters in Pakistan, a move expected to boost investment, innovation, and industrial cooperation in the country’s rapidly expanding information technology sector, the Prime Minister’s Office announced on Friday.

The decision to establish the headquarters in Pakistan comes after a high-level 11-member delegation from IBI, led by its founder, president, and controlling shareholder, Qian Xiaojun, met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The visit comes in the wake of the Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference held in Beijing in September 2025. Welcoming the delegation, the prime minister highlighted the historic ties between Pakistan and China, describing the two nations as “all-weather strategic cooperative partners.”

He commended China’s remarkable progress under President Xi Jinping and expressed his anticipation for his own visit to China later this month.

Sharif said he was particularly optimistic about IBI’s plans to foster digital economy cooperation, facilitate investment, and enhance industrial collaboration between the two countries.
