DHAKA: Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi called on Bangladeshi Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed in Dhaka on Friday and discussed matters of bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Bangladesh and Pakistan for prevention of drug smuggling and combating menace of terrorism. The agreement is expected to play a major role in stopping the transnational drug trafficking ring and terrorist financing spread across South Asia.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed fight against transnational crime, intelligence sharing and cyber security.

Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Bangladeshi capital Dhaka on a two-day official visit. On his arrival at Dhaka Airport, Mohsin Naqvi was warmly welcomed by Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Saaim, Interior Secretary Abu Naeem, and Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Cricket Board Nazmul Din welcomed him.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider was also present on this occasion.

During his trip, Mohsin Naqvi is likely to hold discussions with Tamim Iqbal, who is currently serving as the acting president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

Reportedly, the talks are expected to focus on arrangements and planning for the upcoming Asia Cup scheduled for next year.

In addition to his role as PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi will also engage in meetings in his capacity as head of the Asian Cricket Council.

Representatives from several ACC member countries are also expected to participate in discussions in Dhaka.
