LAHORE: By the grace of Almighty Allah, a golden era of development had begun in Punjab and the conversion of over 3,000 health centres into state-of-the-art health clinics had brought a significant improvement in the healthcare culture, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, said.

“Punjab’s first public sector cancer hospital and Nawaz Sharif Medical City would be completed at the earliest while the first government autism school was a ray of hope for affected children,” the CM said during a meeting with the members of the Provincial Assembly.

The lawmakers appreciated the ongoing development and beautification projects across the province. They lauded initiatives relating to the construction and expansion of roads and streets, improved drainage systems and the provision of clean drinking water under model village projects.

They also expressed satisfaction over the introduction of an integrated sanitation system in rural areas under the “Suthra Punjab” programme, on the pattern of urban centres.

The meeting also appreciated the construction, repair and expansion of 13,000 roads across Punjab.

Referring to the Institute of Cardiology in Sargodha, she said it had facilitated patients with better healthcare services. She added that Cath lab projects in every district were enabling prompt and effective treatment of heart diseases, while stroke management centres were being established across districts for immediate care.

The chief minister said that under the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” scheme, around 125,000 houses were nearing completion. She further said that the “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” project was being launched for unemployed and landless farmers.

She added that electric buses were providing comfortable and free travel facilities to the public, even in far-flung areas of Punjab.
