FAISALABAD: Pakistan and Russia trade, agricultural and academia ties will be further strengthened to get benefit from each other experiences, said Russian Trade Minister Denis Nevzorov.

He along with along with his deputy Nikolai Larochenko and coordinator Tariq Javid Khan visited the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) on Wednesday and called on Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali, dean and directors. It was also agreed upon to enhance the collaboration of UAF with Russian agricultural institutions to address the challenges and get benefit from each other experiences.

Denis Nevzorov called for strengthening bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Russia, particularly in the fields of agricultural, trade and education highlighting the vast potential for mutual collaboration between the two countries.

He added Pakistan is a very friendly country to Russia. He believes that there is great potential for mutual relations, especially in agriculture as the main gateway to those relations. He also expressed his belief in collaborating on fertilizers. He added that Russia will purchase food products like potatoes and seafood from Pakistan.

He also expressed his belief in collaborating on agricultural machinery and vaccines, as Pakistan has a huge market for agricultural products. He said that Russia is ready to help Pakistan with food security. He said that Russia is a major supplier of wheat, accounting for its agricultural exports to Pakistan.

Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali stressed upon the need for Russian Language Center and Russian language course in UAF for the students and community that will also help enhance the people to people contact.

Talking about agricultural and educational ties with Russian, he said that in the meeting, they had identified certain areas for mutual cooperation and discussed how to move forward. He added that they were are looking to expand their interactions, networking, and collaborations.

He mentioned that some memorandum of understandings of UAF and Russian institutions are already in place and that the two sides intend to implement activities jointly.
