“It’s a matter of politics.”

“How come?”

“Separated by ICE wins the World Press Photo award….and politics dictated its win. The horrendous excesses by Israel against all neighbouring peoples was photographed but did not win.”

“That’s probably because of the melting glaciers causing so much environmental degradation, the uptick in the heat in summer months and……”

“Stop silly – ICE as in capital letters, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. Why the confusion?”

“I can understand Immigration but Customs?”

“Their responsibilities include stopping illegal movement of people and goods.”

“Never heard them stopping movement of goods.”

“One at a time my friend, one at a time, when you take on too many tasks at the same time then it gets difficult….”

“That’s true, I mean everyone is not President Trump, he can multitask – ceasefires all over the place, hitting the knuckles of the Supreme Court for…”

“Did the Honourable Chief Justice call him out on that, or perhaps not – isn’t he the last of the Mohicans.”

“Mohicans?”

“It’s the title of a book by Cooper though it has come to mean the last of the last. And when I mentioned the Supreme Court I was referring to the US Supreme Court not the Pakistan one.”

“Hmmmm is he the last of the last! But you know history teaches us that in politics however many changes you make they are all revocable. And….wait….however much one may feel he or she is firmly entrenched in power, and need I add all our first tier leaders thought that….”

“Wrongly as it turns out — one is in jail, another is exiled in Raiwind, but the third is in the Presidency.”

“President Zardari is not a leader in his own right, right?”

“I guess — he can handle his party leaders with ease but has to rely on invoking the name of his assassinated wife and father-in-law…”

“Anyway there are few people in this world who can multitask – President Trump….”

“What about Shehbaz Sharif?”

“He deals with all his tasks in one way: praise, more praise and even more praise.”

“Don’t be facetious – you know that it has worked nine times out of ten!”

“Agreed.”
