LAHORE: A close-out agreement was signed between the Punjab Thermal Power Plant (PTPL) and the China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) regarding the Punjab Thermal Power Plant, a flagship energy project of the provincial government.

Punjab Minister for Energy Faisal Ayub Khokhar, who attended the ceremony as the chief guest on Thursday, congratulated the teams of PTPL and CMEC on the successful completion of the project. He said that the initiative was launched during the tenure of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and has now reached a key stage of completion. He described the Punjab Thermal Power Plant as a practical example of Pak-China friendship and economic cooperation, adding that it would rank among Pakistan’s most modern and high-efficiency power plants.

Faisal praised the role of Chinese partners, expressing gratitude for their contribution and reaffirming the government’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation. He added that the project would not only help meet growing energy demands but also improve the quality of life for local communities.

Representatives of the Chinese company thanked the Punjab government for its support and expressed their intention to continue collaboration on future joint ventures. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the provincial energy minister presented commemorative shields to members of the PTPL team in recognition of their services. The event was also attended by Energy Secretary Ajmal Bhatti, along with officials from PTPL, CMEC, and other relevant stakeholders.
