KARACHI: Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi on Saturday pledged support for strengthening the justice system during a meeting with a delegation of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), led by its President Haroon-ur-Rashid, here at the Governor House.
The 17-member delegation included Senior Vice President Khalid Masood, Vice Presidents Malik Khushhal, Liaquat Ali Tareen and Fazal Shah, Secretary Malik Zahid and Finance Secretary Saira Rajput. Discussions focused on key legal and constitutional matters, judicial efficiency and reforms aimed at improving access to timely justice.
Hashmi underscored the need for closer coordination between the bar and the bench, calling it vital for upholding the rule of law and ensuring national progress. “Effective collaboration between the bar and bench is indispensable for strengthening institutions and delivering justice,” the Governor said, adding that the legal community plays a central role in maintaining public trust in the system.
Rashid highlighted infrastructure challenges faced by lawyers in Karachi, urging the establishment of a dedicated bar office and a hostel facility for visiting and local lawyers. He requested the Governor’s assistance in securing land for both projects.
Hashmi assured the delegation of his full support and said he would take up the matter with relevant authorities on a priority basis. He also called for practical and immediate measures to address lawyers’ concerns, stressing that timely and effective justice delivery remains key to restoring public confidence in state institutions.
