ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday paid tribute to former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on his death anniversary, observed on April 4, praising his political, constitutional and national contributions.
In a message issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Sharif said Bhutto had rendered “valuable services” for the country’s development, prosperity and defence during his tenure as prime minister.
He highlighted Bhutto’s role in the drafting and adoption of the 1973 Constitution, describing it as a cornerstone for strengthening the parliamentary system and promoting democracy in the country.
Sharif said Bhutto had made significant efforts to advance democratic governance and address the fundamental issues faced by the public, adding that he also represented Pakistan on the global stage during his time in office.
The prime minister said Bhutto’s political contributions would be remembered, and offered prayers for the elevation of his ranks.
