ISLAMABAD: Youm-e-Shahadat of Hazrat Ali (RA) was observed on Tuesday with deep reverence and devotion in the federal capital, and the main mourning procession was taken out amid tight security from Imambargah Zainabiya in Sector G-6/4.
A large number of mourners from the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi participated in the Youm-e-Ali (RA) procession. The procession passed through its traditional route and culminated at the Central Imambargah in Sector G-6/2, where devotees broke their fast and offered evening prayers.
Extensive security measures were placed by the capital police in and around the Markazi Imambargah in G-6/2 as well as along the entire procession route. Shipping containers were placed to block roads leading to the Imambargah, while individuals entering the security perimeter underwent body searches at four separate checkpoints conducted by Imambargah scouts and police personnel.
Approximately 3,500 security officials were deployed to ensure safety during the event. The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration installed walk-through gates at three different levels to screen participants entering the procession. Police, volunteers from the peace committee, and scouts thoroughly checked mourners before allowing them to join.
Law enforcement personnel also monitored the procession route from the rooftops of nearby buildings.
