PM Shehbaz reaffirms support for regional peace in call with Syrian president

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday discussed the escalating situation in the Middle East with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, stressing the need for restraint and dialogue to prevent further instability in the region.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the two leaders held a telephone conversation in the evening amid rising tensions following Israel’s attack on Iran and subsequent developments in the Gulf region.
Both sides described the situation as dangerous and underlined the urgent need for de-escalation to preserve regional peace and stability.
The prime minister briefed the Syrian president on Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach in response to the unfolding crisis and reiterated Islamabad’s readiness to play a constructive role in efforts aimed at restoring calm in the region.

The leaders also exchanged views on recent developments in Afghanistan.
On bilateral ties, they expressed satisfaction over the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Syria and agreed to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest, while maintaining close coordination on regional issues.
