Mughal Energy Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mughal Iron & Steel Industries Limited, said on Thursday it had successfully achieved a key milestone in the development of its 36.50 MW hybrid power plant, with the successful completion of steam blowing of the boiler and main steam lines.

The company shared the information in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) today.

“The plant has also successfully achieved controlled cooling-down procedures following steam blowing.

The plant is now undergoing final testing and safety measures to commence power generation and commercial billing within March 2026, the notice to the bourse said.

Last year, the company successfully achieved a hydro test for the coal captive plant.

“The 36.5MW coal captive plant will help the steelmaker reduce its dependence on the national grid,” Nasheed Malik, a senior research analyst at AHL, told Business Recorder back then.
