That our armed forces are working day in, day out to ensure country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty is a fact that has found its best expression from massive or enormous sacrifices that they have rendering towards overcoming the menacing challenge of Fitna al-Khawarij. The people of the country, particularly the politicians, therefore owe to them in a big way.
The overall situation underscores the need for greater unity among the people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Political point-scoring against each other must stop immediately for it only vitiates an already charged atmosphere.
Needless to say, the country has already paid a huge price of political instability that has badly affected the economy. We need to act strictly in accordance with the national interest, and the answer to the question what actually constitutes the national interest needs no answer, given it is too obvious.
