ISLAMABAD: The federal government has taken measures for uninterrupted electricity and gas supply during Sehr and Iftar timings across the country during the holy month of Ramazan.

Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari and Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik jointly addressed at state owned TV channel.

Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the petroleum division has made appropriate arrangements in consultation with gas companies to ensure supply at maximum pressure from 3 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Additional gas has also been arranged based on lessons learned from the previous winter to improve the supply uninterrupted, he added.

The Minister further said dedicated monitoring situation room has been established at the head offices and regional gas offices have been directed to ensure strict monitoring, especially at tail end areas of the distribution network.

In case of any complaint, Ali Pervaiz Malik said consumers can lodge their complaints on helpline number 1199 for redressal. The helpline are directly under the supervision of SSGC and SNGPL managing directors.

While, Awais Leghari said the government has decided that even in high-loss or technically sensitive areas, electricity supply will remain uninterrupted during these hours. “In case of any major technical fault, immediate action will be taken to restore power supply to avoid any inconvenience”, he added.

Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari said a special control room has been established to effectively monitor the situation and oversee all electricity feeders across the country, added that consumers to lodge complaints on helpline number 118 in case of any difficulty regarding electricity supply, and that complaints will be addressed.

Does this mean there will be no 'technical faults', 'maintenance', and/or similar other excuses during Ramzan to torture the public? Impossible. I have commented here a dozen times about this issue.
