Light to moderate rain and hailstorms have been reported across various parts of Karachi on Tuesday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said.

Following the rainfall, the weather in the city turned pleasant. Rain occurred in several localities, including Gulistan-e-Jauhar, North Nazimabad, Federal B Area, University Road, Orangi Town, SITE Area, and Buffer Zone. Meanwhile, Scheme 33 and its surrounding areas also witnessed hailstorms during the rain.

Strong winds accompanied by light rain have begun in Malir Halt, Rafah-e-Aam, and adjacent neighbourhoods. According to the meteorological department, intermittent light rain is expected to continue in various parts of the port city until this evening.

On the other hand, a spokesperson for K-Electric has urged citizens to exercise caution when using electrical appliances during strong winds and rain. The spokesperson warned that using illegal connections (kundas) can lead to fatal accidents.

“Take safety precautions during the rainy season to avoid any unpleasant incidents. Share these recommended safety measures with your loved ones,” the official said.

The spokesperson further stated that as a safety precaution, power has been temporarily suspended in some low-lying areas due to water condition. “K-Electric is currently monitoring the situation, and field staff remain on high alert,” the official added.
