‘IK is receiving medical treatment in line with court’s directives’
ISLAMABAD: Rana Sanaullah, Prime Minister’s Special Adviser on Political and Public Affairs on Friday said that the PTI founder was receiving medical treatment in line with court directives and established legal procedures, dismissing any suggestion of negligence in his care.
Responding to concerns raised by Senators about the PTI founder’s health, he said the information submitted to the Supreme Court had largely clarified issues related to his living conditions. He added that reports filed by jail authorities and the PTI founder’s legal team were generally consistent.
The adviser told the House that the PTI founder first complained of an eye problem in the first week of January. The prison doctor initially prescribed eye drops, and when the condition did not improve sufficiently, further medical steps were taken without delay.
According to Rana Sanaullah, the case was formally referred to specialists on January 15, and a medical team examined the PTI founder the following day. Additional assessments were later conducted by multiple doctors to thoroughly evaluate his condition.
He said a four-member medical board re-examined the PTI founder on January 19, carrying out various diagnostic tests. Based on the findings, the necessary treatment — including an injection — was administered on January 24.
