KARACHI: Federal Minister for Health Mustafa Kamal during his visit to the FC Area Dispensary said that ensuring the provision of quality and timely healthcare facilities to citizens is a fundamental responsibility of the government.

He said that the people of Karachi have been facing issues related to basic civic and health facilities for decades, and addressing these challenges has now become unavoidable.

The Federal Minister said, “We are making this dispensary operational on a 24/7 basis so that men, women, and children do not have to travel to far-flung areas for treatment, but can access quality healthcare within their own locality.” He added that strengthening primary healthcare centers is the only way to reduce the burden on major hospitals.

Speaking about polio, Mustafa Kamal said, “A polio vaccination campaign is starting in two days, during which every child will be administered protective drops. I urge parents to actively participate in this national campaign. The government is providing free vaccination against 13 deadly diseases—let us join hands to make Pakistan free from health-related concerns.”

Highlighting civic issues, he stated, “This is the 21st century, yet unfortunately we are still unable to address problems such as open manholes, sewage treatment, and basic infrastructure. A large population of Karachi is forced to live with dilapidated infrastructure, despite the fact that this city contributes nearly 70 percent to Pakistan’s economy.”

Drawing attention to fire safety concerns, the Federal Minister said, “The fire incident at Gul Plaza, which resulted in the loss of precious human lives, has now become a national-level issue. This tragedy has exposed the severe lack of fire safety equipment and effective safety systems in buildings across Karachi, which demands immediate and serious action.”

Speaking on constitutional and administrative matters, Mustafa Kamal stated, “We have submitted a detailed eight-page report regarding amendments to Article 140-A.
