ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday rejected a plea filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Senator Azam Swati, seeking details of police personnel deployed during November 26, 2025 protest, in a case registered against him and others.
ATC judge Tahir Abbas Sipra while hearing the case rejected Swati request regarding provision of a list of police personnel on duty at the time of the incident and initiated proceedings to declare the absent accused as proclaimed offenders.
During the hearing, Swati appeared before the court along with his counsel Murtaza Turi. Swati requested the court to direct the police to provide a list of police officials who were on duty at the time of the incident.
The judge remarked that he was not the Investigation Officer (IO) and could not issue such directions. The judge further stated that the investigation had been completed and the challan had already been submitted.
The court observed that if the accused sought further investigation, he could submit a request to the police. The judge said that the purpose of an investigation is to uncover the truth, not merely to gather evidence against the accused.
