ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has conveyed to the Inland Revenue officials that the amount of reward for meritorious services shall not be more than 24 salaries during the financial year in the case of each employee.

Last month, the FBR has approved increase in the reward of Inland Revenue officials from 18 to 24 salaries for meritorious services.

Through a new notification i.e S.R.O. 2485(I) 2025, the FBR has proposed further amendments in the Inland Revenue Reward Rules, 2021.

Now the FBR has revised reward rules, saying that the amount of reward for meritorious services shall not be more than twenty-four salaries during the financial year in the case of each employee, the revised rules added.

The FBR has already increased the upper limit of rewards for meritorious services and introducing a new evaluation mechanism for ex-cadre officers and staff.

Board unanimously approved raising the maximum reward limit from the existing 18 salaries to 24 salaries per financial year. The amendment applies to employees under Rule 6 of the Inland Revenue Reward Rules.

The Board further noted that the Customs Reward Rules, 2012 already allow rewards up to 36 months’ basic salary and therefore require no amendment.
