PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has intensified its ongoing measures for the collection of property tax, with decisive action being taken against persistent defaulters.

Under the supervision of Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO-VI) Peshawar, Ejaz Khan, a vigorous operation was carried out against property tax defaulters during which multiple residential and commercial units across various areas of Peshawar city were sealed for non-payment of dues pending over a long period.

According to the Excise and Taxation Department, indiscriminate action against tax defaulters will continue and no one will be considered above the law. The initiative aims to ensure timely recovery of government revenues and to make the tax system more transparent. The department has urged citizens to deposit their outstanding dues promptly in order to avoid additional penalties, legal action or sealing of their premises. Furthermore, Director Excise and Taxation Peshawar Region, Syed ul-Amin, visited Property Tax Offices Peshawar-II and Peshawar-VI and presided over a joint meeting. The meeting reviewed in detail the current pace of property tax recovery and issued directions to further expedite the process.

Concerned officers, Tauseef Khan and Ejaz Khan, were instructed to formulate a comprehensive strategy at the earliest and to further improve staff performance. Emphasis was also laid on courteous conduct and guidance-oriented facilitation for taxpayers.

On the occasion, a briefing was also given on the ongoing GIS-based property tax survey in Peshawar. Deputy Director GIS, Shoaib Alam, apprised the participants of the progress made so far in the field survey. The Regional Director directed that monitoring of the work of GIS Associates be further strengthened and systematized so that departmental affairs are aligned with modern lines, making the tax system more convenient and transparent.
