ISLAMABAD: Law enforcement agencies on Thursday claimed to have detained 27 individuals and confiscated significant quantity of illicit drugs and weaponry during a comprehensive security operation across the federal capital.

According to a police spokesperson, the coordinated crackdown was conducted following special directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, to combat criminal elements and ensure public safety.

Police teams from 13 separate stations, including Aabpara, Golra, and Bhara Kahu, apprehended 23 accused persons. The seized contraband from their possession included 1,217 grams of heroin, 762 grams of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as ice, and 439 bottles of liquor.

In addition to the narcotics, officers also recovered a cache of illegal armaments comprising three pistols, one rifle, a dagger, and associated ammunition.

Separately, a distinct campaign targeting fugitives resulted in the apprehension of four wanted individuals described as proclaimed offenders and court absconders.

Formal cases have been registered against all arrested suspects, and further investigations are currently underway.

SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, stated that the Islamabad Police is dedicated to ensuring the safety of citizens’ lives and property. He affirmed that no one would be permitted to disturb the peace of the city and that protecting residents remains the force’s foremost priority.

The SSP also issued an appeal to the public, requesting citizens to report any suspicious activity immediately to the relevant police station or the “Pucar-15” emergency helpline, highlighting that mutual cooperation is essential to making the city free of crime.
