COLOMBO: Sri Lankan shares closed higher on Tuesday, snapping a four-session losing streak, led by utilities and energy stocks.
The CSE All Share index settled up 0.13 percent at 21,927 India will provide an assistance package worth USD450 million to Sri Lanka for cyclone relief and repair, India’s Foreign Minister said on Tuesday.
Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) and Colombo Dockyard were the top percentage gainers on the CSE All Share index, rising 25 percent and 24.8 percent, respectively.
Trading volume on the CSE All Share index jumped to 102.3 million shares from 81.9 million in the previous session.
The equity market’s turnover fell to 2.56 billion Sri Lankan rupees (USD8.3 million) from 2.98 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.
