ISLAMABAD: Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has been conferred the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class, the highest national honour of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under a Royal Decree issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, in recognition of his distinguished military service and contributions to strengthening bilateral defence and strategic cooperation.
According to the ISPR, the honour was conferred during Field Marshal Asim Munir’s official visit to the Kingdom, where he called on Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Defence of Saudi Arabia.
The meeting featured comprehensive discussions on matters of mutual interest, including regional security dynamics, defence and military cooperation, strategic collaboration, and evolving geopolitical challenges.
Both sides reaffirmed the deep-rooted, historic, and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing their shared commitment to regional peace, stability, and security. The discussions also highlighted the importance of sustained defence cooperation, counter-terrorism collaboration, and enhanced institutional linkages between the armed forces of the two countries.
The King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class recognizes Field Marshal Asim Munir’s leadership and his central role in advancing defence cooperation and strategic coordination between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. It also acknowledges his contributions toward regional peace and stability through close security collaboration.
The Saudi leadership conveyed its appreciation for Field Marshal Asim Munir’s professionalism, strategic vision, and commitment to further strengthening the longstanding brotherly ties between the two nations.
