PDMA board approves budget

Published Updated

KARACHI: The 22nd important meeting of the board of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (Sindh) was held at the PDMA Headquarters, with Advisor to the Chief Minister Sindh on Rehabilitation Gianchand Israni in the chair. An eleven-point agenda was discussed in detail.

The meeting approved the budget for the financial year 26-2025, the establishment of the Disaster Risk Reduction Wing and the recruitment process.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Rehabilitation Department Nisar Ahmed Memon, DG, PDMA Salman Shah, Director Admin and Finance Syed Shah Hussain Shah and other senior officials.

Recruitment was also allowed in PEOC and three pilot districts — Nausher Feroze, Thatta and Jamshoro. The establishment of a media cell in PEOC was approved so that timely information could be conveyed to the public in case of emergency.

The instructions were also issued to maintain and further improve complete records of all items distributed and in stock district-wise and to complete the recruitment process through the Sindh government portal.

On this occasion, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh for Rehabilitation Gianchand Israni gave instructions that complete data be maintained.

“There should be accurate records of everything up to the union council and taluka levels.” If we give five thousand tents to the deputy commissioners, then strict monitoring of it is also necessary.

The Sindh government is taking effective steps to align the PDMA with modern requirements, increase transparency and strengthen the response system.

Director General PDMA, Salman Shah said that disaster risk reduction is our top priority. Modern and expert manpower is indispensable to strengthen advance preparedness and timely response in the province. The establishment of the wing will significantly enhance the technical capacity of PDMA, enabling us to deal with emergencies more effectively. Effective communication saves lives. A strong media cell is essential for public guidance and institutional coordination in emergencies.
