‘Apni Chhat- Apna Ghar’ programme: Over 120,000 individuals received loans so far
LAHORE: The Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin on Thursday revealed that over 120,000 individuals have so far received loans amounting to more than Rs 150 billion under the ‘Apni Chhat- Apna Ghar’ program of the Punjab Government.
Currently, over 70,000 houses are under construction, while 45,000 homes have already been completed. For a loan of Rs. 1.5 million, the monthly installment is only Rs. 14,000, with a 100 percent repayment rate.
The Minister disclosed this along with Parliamentary Secretary Sultan Bajwa, and Secretary Housing Noor-ul-Amin Mengal at a special briefing session organized for more than 15 international media representatives.
The Housing Minister stated that, on the instructions of the Chief Minister, the amount recovered through installments will be reinvested to facilitate additional families with housing loans. Bilal Yasin added that the construction of over 100,000 homes annually will enable millions of families to secure safe and dignified housing. He emphasized that low-income households have achieved in a few months what would otherwise take decades through the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar initiative.
The Minister also highlighted that applicants were not required to pay even a single rupee as registration fee, while the program remains fully free from political or religious bias, bribery, or influence, ensuring 100 percent merit and transparency.
Project Director Waleed Iqbal, DG Punjab Housing Sikandar Zeeshan, and representatives from partner organizations were also present at the event.
