ISLAMABAD: Pakistani security forces have killed five Indian-sponsored terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Dera Bugti district of Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday.

According to the ISPR, the operation was carried out on December 5 following reports about the presence of terrorists affiliated with the Indian proxy group, Fitna-al-Hindustan. Security forces effectively engaged the terrorists’ hideout, leading to an intense exchange of fire in which five militants were killed. The military’s media wing said a cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives was also recovered from the site. The killed militants were reportedly involved in several terrorist activities in the area.

The ISPR added that sanitisation operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining militants in the region. It reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue their counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, to eradicate the threat of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
