‘Today we have no verifiable information at all about his condition’

Prime minister Shehbaz Sharif seems to have lost his marbles by failing to defuse a highly dangerous situation caused by some wild speculations and unconfirmed reports about the whereabouts of PTI founder Imran Khan who has been undergoing imprisonment in Adiala Jail.

The question is why he’s not taking any meaningful step aimed at resolving the issue with regard to Imran Khan’s health and his whereabouts when the entire global media, including India’s, have been intensely discussing the matter days in, day out by raising the question “Is Imran Khan alive?”. The situation, therefore, has added to political instability in the country.

And, the current bout of uncertainly can certainly lead to reduced investment and economic growth; it may also result in mass-scale civil protests or even government collapse. Meanwhile, the incarcerated PTI founder’s children have claimed that the authorities are concealing “something irreversible” about their father’s condition.

“Not knowing whether your father is safe, injured or even alive is a form of psychological torture,” Kasim Khan has reportedly said in written remarks, adding that there had been no independently confirmed communication for a couple of months “Today we have no verifiable information at all about his condition,” according to him.

Be that as it may, that the situation is profoundly profound is a fact. Therefore, it is about time the prime minister himself eased the concerns of PTI founder’s family without any further loss of time.
